Founder & Owner​

Maggie is a passionate educator and the heart of our school. With years of experience in early childhood education, she is dedicated to creating an enriching environment for children to thrive.

​

 She holds a PhD in Education from Lesley University, where her research focused on play, executive functioning and the role of the family in child development. Her passion for play, storytelling and emergent curriculum has led her to a successful career in both academia as a researcher and teaching, where she has contributed to advancing knowledge and practice in her field.

Over the years, she has built a reputation as a professor, researcher and educational consultant, recognized for her curriculum development, coaching and research on children’s wellbeing. She has worked with Boston Public Schools, Boston College, Bunker Hill Community College, Boston Area Reggio Inspired Network, and Project Zero, sharing her expertise and training the next generation of early childhood professionals and students.

Outside of her professional career, she is passionate about healthy living, organic farming and homesteading. Maggie’s Happy Hens Farm and Forest School is the perfect fusion of early childhood education and homesteading. 

Maggie lives the happy farm life with her husband, six children, goats, bees and chickens where she enjoys spending time with her family and engaging in skiing, hiking, beekeeping and gardening.

Brooke is excited to join the Happy Hens Farm & Forest School team as a teacher. She brings several years of experience working with children in preschool, kindergarten, and school-age programs, where she has served as both an associate and lead teacher. Throughout her experience, Brooke has especially enjoyed creating engaging, hands-on learning opportunities and building meaningful relationships with children and their families.

For the past five years, Brooke has also homeschooled her four children. This experience has deepened her appreciation for honoring each child’s individual interests, encouraging independence, and creating meaningful learning experiences that inspire curiosity and confidence.

Brooke is drawn to Happy Hens’ Reggio Emilia-inspired approach, which values children’s ideas, interests, questions, and natural curiosity as an important part of the learning process. She believes children thrive when they are given opportunities to explore, create, problem-solve, and take an active role in their own learning.

Brooke believes some of the most meaningful learning happens through nature, hands-on exploration, and the freedom to follow a child’s curiosity. She loves watching children grow into confident problem-solvers as they ask questions, investigate new ideas, and discover what they are capable of. She is passionate about creating a warm, nurturing environment where children feel safe, supported, and inspired to explore the world around them while developing a lifelong love of learning.

Outside of school, Brooke enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, whether hiking, gardening, or caring for their flock of chickens. She is excited to become part of the Happy Hens community and looks forward to learning, exploring, and growing alongside the children and families she serves.

​Willow Room and Yurt School Teacher

Elizabeth is excited to be joining the Happy Hens Farm & Forest School community as a Willow Room and Yurt School teacher. She recently graduated from Mount Holyoke College with a double major in History and Politics and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Elementary Education at New England College.

Elizabeth has always been passionate about working with children and creating meaningful, engaging learning experiences. Through years of babysitting and working as a camp counselor, she developed a love for nurturing children’s curiosity, supporting their growth, and making learning fun. She especially enjoys teaching through nature and hands-on exploration and believes children learn best when they have opportunities to get outside, ask questions, and discover the world around them.

At the Yurt School, Elizabeth is particularly excited to share her passion for history and civics with students. Her undergraduate studies focused on history, with an emphasis on Indigenous history, and she looks forward to bringing this interest into the classroom through engaging, thoughtful, and age-appropriate learning experiences.

Outside of school, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her three (almost four!) nieces and her cats, creating crafts, hiking, camping, and listening to music. Originally from Portland, Oregon, she moved to New Hampshire after completing college in Western Massachusetts and is enjoying exploring her new home.

Elizabeth is thrilled to be part of Happy Hens and looks forward to learning alongside the children, exploring the outdoors, and helping foster their curiosity, confidence, and love of learning.

Substitute Teacher

Hello, I’m Megan! I’m a childcare professional at Maggie’s Happy Hens and a mother of four. I spent 12 years as a stay at home mom, where I gained a lot of hands-on experience caring for my own children and helped a few families with childcare as well.

During that time I also earned my Bachelor’s degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology and enjoy using what I’ve learned about behavior, communication, and patience in my work with children. In addition to working at Maggie’s, I also like to substitute at the schools my children and niece attend.

Outside of work, my family is very involved in our community and loves being outdoors. We enjoy hiking together during the warmer months and snowboarding in the winter. I love being part of a warm, supportive environment where children feel safe, happy, and encouraged to grow.

Teen Helper

Assitant Teacher

Marites is the newest Assistant Teacher joining Maggie’s Happy Hens Farm & Forest School, and she is excited to become part of the community and get to know the children and families.

Originally from the Philippines, Marites moved to the United States in 2025. She brings experience as a nanny and housekeeper and has a genuine love for caring for and working with children. She looks forward to creating a warm, supportive environment for the children and to an exciting year ahead at Maggie’s Happy Hens Farm & Forest School.

Outside of school, Marites enjoys spending time with her husband, Daniel, and their 8-year-old daughter. They love cheering her on at softball games and cheerleading performances. In her free time, Marites also enjoys gardening, baking, taking long walks, and swimming.
